Quick Set-up Guide

CAUTION: SEE OPERATIONS MANUAL FOR COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS, INCLUDING ALL WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS PRIOR TO SETUP.

Initial setup

Connect power cord to INVOS Cerebral Oximeter monitor and power source.
Make sure back panel master switch is turned on.
Connect Preamplifier to INVOS monitor.
Connect Bilateral Reusable SomaSensor Cable to Preamplifier.

For each patient

Turn power on by pressing the green button at the lower left front corner of monitor.
INVOS System completes a self-test within 30 seconds.
Degrease forehead with the enclosed alcohol/acetone wipe to ensure good contact. After forehead is dry, place SomaSensors bilaterally on patient's forehead. Sensor cable can be connected to sensors before or after placement. Hold blue connectors, not the sensor black flex circuit when connecting sensors to cable.
Press NEW PATIENT or PREVIOUS PATIENT.
Observe right and left channel measurements. Set alarm limits, if desired. Observe status messages on screen for troubleshooting assistance.
After trending begins and patient condition is stable (i.e., surgical patient, prior to induction), set the awake baseline. Press BASELINE MENU. Press SET BASELINE. The BASELINE and % CHANGE FROM BASELINE values will be displayed below the real-time value, and you will be automatically returned to the MAIN MENU.
